What the program funds
This program provides funding to support practical community-led projects that reduce biosecurity risks, strengthen wildlife rehabilitation capacity, and help protect vulnerable native species from H5 bird flu. Small grants of between $1,500 and $10,000 will be immediately available to licensed wildlife rehabilitators to support a range of purposes, including enhancing biosecurity measures, purchasing consumables, and undertaking relevant training.

Applications close in December 2026. Government grant portals are busiest on the final day and several of them close on the stroke of the deadline, so the practical advice is to submit a day early.
