Who actually writes the cheque

A netball club and an exporter are both after funding and they should be looking in completely different places. Sorted by how much of each category is council money.

One catalogue

Most people only ever need one of these doors.

A club needs the sport and events money. A manufacturer needs the Commonwealth's. The category is the fastest way to stop reading programs that were never for you.

Every category tells you the month. A trial tells you the day.

1,726 of the 4,049 programs in this catalogue carry a closing date the funder published, and every one of them shows its month on the category page it sits in. The exact day, the funder's own closing time, the application link and a countdown that stays right come with a 7 day free trial. No card, and the catalogue stays free to read either way.

Browsing Australian grants by purpose

Every category on this page pulls together Commonwealth, state, territory, council and university programs funding the same kind of project, with the closing date on the front of every entry. Grants for community projects, arts and culture, environment and land care, small business growth, capital works, health, training and skills, community events, sport and recreation, disaster recovery, Indigenous organisations, youth, heritage, tourism, regional and rural development, energy, digital, agriculture, innovation, seniors, research and development, employment, export, resources, manufacturing, finance and education.

A category earns a page of its own at 25 programs, because a page with nine rows on it is a thin page whatever the subject. Smaller categories still appear on the grant pages that carry them. 276 programs sit in none of the categories above, either because the funder published none or because the only one they carry is too small for a page of its own, and every one of them is listed by state and territory instead.

The categories overlap on purpose. A council program upgrading a netball court is capital works and sport and community, and it is listed under all three, because that is how the funder describes it and how three different people will look for it. So the category counts do not add up to the size of the catalogue and this site never adds them up.

Looking for funding somewhere specific instead? Browse the directory by state and territory, where council programs from every local government area sit in their own listing, or see everything closing soon across all 10 jurisdictions.
