What the program funds

This project aims to support landholders to undertake African boxthorn (Lycium ferocissimum) control to maintain and improve plains-wanderer habitat. This project aims to recover the population of the region's critically endangered plains-wanderer (Pedionomus torquatus). Landholders play a key role in preserving habitat for this species, as strategic grazing management is crucial to conserving their ideal habitat. The most important thing landholders can do is to manage their habitat in ‘ideal’ conditions.

How to apply

Applications for Bringing plains-wanderer back from the brink – Boxthorn control are made through Local Land Services, not through GrantWindow. We do not take applications, charge a fee or act as an intermediary, and any site that offers to apply on your behalf for a government grant is worth a very careful look.

Applications close in March 2023. Government grant portals are busiest on the final day and several of them close on the stroke of the deadline, so the practical advice is to submit a day early.

This round is closed. Many Australian grant programs run again, and a closed program is the reason the alert list exists: we watch this page nightly and tell the list the day it reopens.
